Reliance Industries is set to enter the quick commerce sector next month, with JioMart planning to launch deliveries within 30 minutes, according to a May 29 report by the Times of India, citing sources familiar with the development.
Initially, the service will deliver groceries in 7-8 cities, with plans to gradually expand to over 1,000 cities. Reliance Retail has not responded to Times of India’s queries about the launch.
Moneycontrol has not independently verified this information.
The report also mentioned that JioMart may leverage Reliance Retail’s extensive network of stores and fulfillment centers to support its quick commerce operations. This move follows the discontinuation of JioMart Express, a 90-minute grocery delivery service, a year ago.
Currently, JioMart offers next-day delivery options to its customers. Reliance’s entry into quick commerce is expected to intensify competition in a market where Blinkit, Swiggy, and Zepto are already offering grocery and select non-grocery item deliveries within 10-15 minutes.
